We have to remember that we aren't alone in our mess. God is always there to help us, but there's also an enemy deliberately altering the appearances of our circumstances. We are constantly repeating the choice faced by Eve, our ancient grandmother! Will we remember and accept what God has told us, or will we listen to the smooth speech of the serpent, who desires our death? He makes it look wonderful, he who is destined now to die permanently, visibly eats the forbidden fruit claiming for the moment that it's not toxic, taunting us for listening to God's advice.

That's where the deadly mindset originates, and we have the choice to avoid it. We must carefully and with God's help study the Bible to discern the Truth. Spiritual things are spiritually discerned, and God is the only source and explainer of Truth.

Even many "Christians" are misled because of false beliefs engineered to look acceptable, but be full of poison turning us away from God's expressed will for us. We forget that losing our lives comes about from an active and intelligent mind, set on our destruction. God has always left the choice up to us, and His will is visible to us if we will look. Eve failed, and most humans follow that example by discarding God's Word at the suggestion of the enemy, who gives us altered and changed thoughts. They can be subtle, but misleading. God alone can help us comprehend His word correctly.

Remember that Satan quoted scripture to Christ in the attempt to deceive Him. Scripture by itself can be misused. Christ quoted scripture back, but correctly understanding it.

It seems difficult sometimes, but turning our attention to Christ alone, can save our lives in the end.
